Dr. Marcus S. Tappan has been improving smiles for over 20 years.He offers his patients cosmetic and general dentistry with a caring touch. Through his commitment to continuing education, he is able to offer this outstanding care using the latest dental techniques, equipment and procedures. Dr. Tappan maintains his level of expertise by regularly attending seminars and courses in cosmetic dentistry, implant placement, periodontology, oral surgery, dental conscious sedation, and other current and advanced dental techniques.
Dr. Tappan is truly a leader in providing contemporary dentistry. Dr. Tappan received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington D.C. He began his career in 1984 with the United States Army Dental Corp where he obtained the rank of Major and began treatment on active duty military personnel and their families. In 1991, Dr. Tappan established his current state-of the art private practice in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Dr. Tappan plays an active role in both his profession and his community. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the National Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Associate fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the Montgomery County and the Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Tappan served on the board of Second Genesis; an organization that assists in the rehabilitation of individuals with alcohol and substance abuse problems. He has provided extensive dental services to assist during the recovery process by creating healthy new smiles, which fosters confidence to accompany their new productive lives. Dr. Tappan also served on the board of Adoptions Together, Inc. Additionally, he is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity Inc.
Dr. Tappan enjoys spending time with his twins, reading, running marathons and playing sports.
